# Get Started¶

Several Applications and Samples are delivered with HAL to help you get started with the library. In the following sections, you will find information on how to build, run and install those applications and samples.

## Compilation¶

mkdir build
cd build
cmake ..
cmake --build .

In this code sample, our CMakeLists.txt is configured in a such way that the executable is generated in the “build” directory.

## Running¶

Here, we’ll use HAL Viewer Sample sample, but other samples can be started in the same way.

Go to the “build” directory. Run the sample as usual, for example:

Linux

./metavision_hal_viewer

Windows

metavision_hal_viewer.exe

Alternatively, you could also specify where the plugins are located by using the MV_HAL_PLUGIN_PATH variable, for example:

Linux

MV_HAL_PLUGIN_PATH=/usr/lib/metavision/hal/plugins/ ./metavision_hal_viewer

Windows

set "MV_HAL_PLUGIN_PATH=C:\Program Files\Prophesee\lib\metavision\hal\plugins\"
metavision_hal_viewer.exe

## Installation¶

Go to the “build” directory and run the command:

sudo cmake --install .
