Installation
Guides
If you purchased a Prophesee USB EVK after October 7th, 2024, or if you hold a Metavision SDK PRO license, you are eligible for SDK access. You can install it by following the following guides:
Using our pre-built Ubuntu packages and Windows installer:
Compiling the source code (to customize any algorithm or work on different platforms):
If you don’t have access to Metavision SDK, you can use OpenEB that it is limited to the Open modules. Please refer to the appropriate guide based on your specific situation:
Note
Another option to have access to a free version of Metavision SDK is to use the SDK version 4.6 that is still available and free to use:
If you are a Prophesee customer, retrieve it in the Knowledge Center Download section.
Otherwise, sign-up for SDK 4.6
Each section above contains the installation of the Prophesee camera plugin. You can check our specific Camera Plugins Installation page for more information on the plugins and how to install third-party vendor plugins.
Note
To have a summary of our packaging, check the Metavision SDK Modules and Packaging page
Operating System Support
The current version of Metavision SDK supports the following operating systems:
Linux Ubuntu 22.04 64-bit
Linux Ubuntu 24.04 64-bit
Windows 10 64-bit
If you’re looking to install Metavision SDK packages on an older, unsupported version of Ubuntu, please refer to the table below to identify the compatible SDK version for your system
If you wish to use a newer version of Ubuntu, another Linux OS, or a platform other than amd64 (such as ARM-based platforms like Jetson or Raspberry Pi), you’ll need to compile OpenEB or the SDK. For detailed instructions, refer to this FAQ topic.
Currently, only Windows 10 is officially supported. However, if you’re simply exploring our technology and have Windows 11, you can still give it a try. It’s expected to work mostly fine.
Below is the historical record of supported operating systems, along with the corresponding Python versions (listed in parentheses), for each SDK release:
